Anthro Outreach - Comptroller
Summary:
Anthro Outreach LLC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Comptroller to oversee and maintain the financial health of the organization. As Comptroller, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and the oversight of accounting processes. This is a leadership position that involves managing a team and developing internal controls to safeguard the organization's financial assets. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities and a passion for nonprofit finance and accounting.
Key Duties:
Maintain Internal Financial Safeguards:
Ensure the accuracy and traceability of all financial transactions.
Monitor revenue receipts, costs, team and organizational budgets, and actual expenditures.
Maintain comprehensive accounting records to ensure that all money coming into and leaving the organization can be fully traced and vouched for.
Develop and Enforce Internal Controls:
Implement and enforce internal financial controls to maximize the protection of the organization's assets
Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and workflows.
Team Leadership and Support:
Lead and support the accounting team by providing dynamic leadership that fosters an environment of trust, collaboration, and productivity.
Offer feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members, ensuring they meet their goals and objectives.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the Treasurer (CFO) and the executive team.
Ensure that reports are aligned with accounting standards and provide actionable insights into the organization’s financial health.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Work with the Treasurer and department heads to develop and monitor budgets.
Provide regular updates on actual versus budgeted performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Assist with financial forecasting to guide organizational planning and decision-making.
Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight:
Oversee the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring that all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with payment terms and handle any discrepancies with vendors or clients.
Audit Preparation and Compliance:
Assist in the preparation and coordination of financial audits.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including those related to nonprofit financial management and reporting.
Cash Flow Management:
Monitor and manage the organization’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity to meet obligations.
Work with the Treasurer to implement strategies for cash flow optimization and financial sustainability.
Tax and Regulatory Filings:
Ensure the timely preparation and submission of tax returns and other regulatory filings, in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Ensure compliance with all financial and regulatory requirements for nonprofit organizations.
Collaboration with Internal Departments:
Collaborate with departments such as Human Resources, IT, and Marketing to provide financial insights and support for organizational initiatives, projects, and operational planning.
Essential Qualifications:
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ability to lead and motivate a team, with experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
Prior experience in accounting, financial management, or a related field.
Familiarity with accounting software and tools is a plus.
Knowledge of internal controls and audit procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Prior experience as a Comptroller, Financial Manager, or a similar role.
Experience in nonprofit accounting or financial management.
